Asian Games champions ignored for torch relay
I hate to copy a post title but can't resist after reading this article on The Hindu today.
Firstly, let me confirm that I'm NOT a zero-sum personality who believes in other's failures for his/her success. It is ABOSLUTELY fine for anyone to get a chance to lit the Asian Games Torch.
But it is slightly disappointing to exclude some of the most prominent athletes of the nation. One notable personality is Sriram Singh, one of only six Indian athletes to have made the Olympic finals. Some more prominent personalities are missed out too. Are we forgetting to offer the tribute we are supposed to?
It remains mystery as how Rachna Govil is able to secure a place almost always despite her controversies
Ofcourse I agree that no system can be perfect and no selection will satisfy everyone. BUT are we playing a fair game?
The torch has already arrived here in India and will be here until October 12. It is unreal to expect Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to change the names it has already picked for this year. But I hope whistle-blowing such activities will be the LEAST tribute we can offer to those who served the nation. Lets hope for the best in the forthcoming years.
I did my part!!!
