Shilpa Vs Jade: Is it racism?
For the past 6 or 7 hours, I am learning about one news, just abt a SINGLE thing, right from my good old TV to radio and all across Internet, "Shilpa vs Jade". The issue has even been raised in UK parliament.
The attention generated around this is just too high than it deserves. The issue can be simplified to a single question: "Is it racism?"
Frankly, jus as this blogger, I dont think so. The issue must be treated at the "individual" levels and NOT at national or international levels. More specifically, this incident must NOT be related to a sensitive issue like "racism".
Staying with new people for months in an isolated world can't be entirely so "sweet". And it definitely can't "start" sweeter. After all, that is the concept of a reality show - to withstand such hurdles. Except for this outraged controversy, I'd not seen or learnt about this show in the past.
It is ofcourse a mistake if Shilpa was referred to as a "Paki dog". But I believe the game rules are stronger enough to flag this contestant in such a case. This issue MUST just be seen as a game. Nothing more, nothing less.
It doesn't make sense to make this a global issue. IMHO, it doesn't deserve that kind of attention. As anyone would agree, this is a typical "girly" fight. I'm confident that Shilpa is stronger enough to handle such issues considering her successful attitude in Bollywood. Being a Tamilian, it was never tough for her to deal with native Hindi co-workers. "Big Brother" row is just going to be a "round-2" to showcase her attitude.
This row is only adding atleast few more million votes in support of Shilpa. Click here and keep voting your favourite stars. :D
